WATERLOO — Eight different players scored goals as the Marshalltown girls’ soccer team walloped Waterloo East 10-0 on Friday at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.

Yuri Ramirez was the lone Bobcat to tally twice, netting a pair of goals in the first 13 minutes of the match. Alexia Garcia finished with one goal and one assist as Marshalltown (6-8, 2-1) achieved six wins in a season for the first time since 2016.

Irais Buenrostro, Millie Heitmann, Joceline Diaz, Aubrie Tejada, Kenya Gomez Reyes and Stefani Gutierrez each scored a goal for the Bobcats, while Waterloo East (0-4, 0-2) surrendered an own goal.

Marshalltown outshot the Trojans 31-0, with 23 shots going on goal against the shorthanded hosts. Bobcat goalkeepers Lilyia Christen, Esme Chavez and Garcia shared time in net, though none faced a shot in 51 minutes of game time.

MHS has a busy week starting with Monday’s road trip to Ames. The Bobcats host Ottumwa on Tuesday at Marshalltown Community College, and close the three-game week with Saturday’s contest at Des Moines North.

Weaver medals as Mustangs fall at Falcons

PARKERSBURG — Cody Weaver claimed medalist honors as the East Marshall boys’ golf team competed in an NICL dual meet Friday against Aplington-Parkersburg at Legend Trail Golf Club.

Weaver won the meet with an even-par round of 36 across the front nine, but the Mustangs fell to the Falcons 172-201 in the final team tally.

Weaver carded three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey during his medalist round.

Will Steege led A-P with a 39 for runner-up honors as all four scoring Falcons finished ahead of East Marshall’s second golfer.

Jackson Bidwell shot a 49 for the Mustangs, Matthew Wenner added a 53 and Triton Maddox closed with a 63.
