Two men who used a 3D printer to make sub-machine guns have been jailed for 30 years.
Sibusiso Moyo, 41 and Christopher Gill, 35, were convicted of plotting to build and supply homemade weapons to criminal gangs – in what was the first case of its kind in the UK.
They were rumbled when police found the deadly plastic weapons hidden in a BMW being driven by their criminal associate Majeed Rehman, 46, in Bradford.
Officers performed the stop on May 17 last year after surveillance showed a man, later identified as Gill, get into the car with a supermarket bag-for-life.
It was discovered in the car’s rear footwell and contained an ‘FGC9’ homemade automatic sub-machine gun, magazine and bullets.
Gill’s home was later raided and two almost complete FGC9s were found in a holdall hidden in his loft.
When Moyo was arrested police found two 3D printers and parts to make the deadly weapons at his home in Hull.

Firearms were also at various stages of construction at the property and Moyo’s DNA was found on the weapon from the BMW.
Gill, from Bradford, was jailed for 13 years after being found guilty of illegally manufacturing a firearm at Sheffield Crown Court.
Moyo was jailed for 18 years for the same crime and a separate identity fraud offence.
Speaking after the sentencing, Det Chf Inspector Andrew Howard said: ‘Manufacture of viable 3D printed firearms is a real threat, and these firearms were built for one purpose only, to be supplied to other organised criminals who would use them to inflict harm.
He added: ‘We are determined to keep the public safe by tackling those that chose to manufacture these lethal weapons.
‘Those that do will be hunted down and will feel the full weight of the law and should expect to receive lengthy sentences.’
Rehman, from Bradford, was found guilty of possession of ammunition and conspiracy to transfer a prohibited firearm. He will be sentenced at a later date.
